What “supported” means

Core schedules—tasks, dates, durations, hierarchy, progress, dependencies, resources, basic assignments, and project properties—are covered. Password-protected files cannot be opened. Baselines, real calendar exceptions, custom fields, source critical-path flags, and some assignment details are not yet extracted and are called out inside the app. Exact Project 2021 vs 2024 vs Microsoft 365 origin cannot be distinguished because those editions share the Project 16.x / MPP14 family.

Before you open the file.

Does GanttPeek edit or save MPP files?

No. It is intentionally read-only and never writes back to the selected MPP file.

Does a schedule leave my Mac?

No. Parsing happens locally in the app sandbox. GanttPeek has no upload service or analytics SDK.

Does “Project 2024 support” mean every field?

No. It means the shared Project 16.x / MPP14 binary family is accepted for the verified core schedule fields listed above. Unsupported field groups are disclosed rather than silently certified.

Can it open password-protected files?

No. Remove read protection in an authorized copy of Microsoft Project before opening the file in GanttPeek.

Is GanttPeek made by Microsoft?

No. GanttPeek is independently developed by Eutopix Labs and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft.
